Threaded
A Threaded Linear Actuator Stepper Motor contains a stepper motor with a threaded shaft. The stepper motor and threaded shaft stays fixed while the threaded shaft rotates.
Captive
Depending on the rotation of the stepper motor, a Captive Linear Actuator Stepper Motor spins a threaded shaft that enters and exits a fixed stepper motor.
Non-Captive
A Non-Captive Linear Actuator Stepper Motor contains both Threaded and Captive features. Depending on the setup of the motor, the threaded shaft can enter and exit a fixed stepper motor; Or the stepper motor can moved back and forth on a fixed threaded shaft.
